About the Course
Web Mapping and GIS Services is a new, online-only course being offered at Rowan University through the Department of Geography and Environment. The course is an eight-week course running from July 3rd to August 27th, 2012. The topics covered include client-side APIs in both JavaScript and Flex, server-side technologies such as ArcGIS for Server and Geoserver, and cloud computing using Amazon Web Services.
Students enrolled in the course will receive a stipend to cover their AWS usage fees, allowing them to explore using the celebrated cloud computing and hosting platform for their own web mapping applications. This stipend is being provided through an AWS for Education grant award.
Over the next few weeks, this site will feature previews of the components of the new course. If you are interested in the course, please contact John Reiser at reiser@rowan.edu for more information.
